Four students from Gadjah Mada University (UGM) in Yogyakarta successfully developed an innovative digital power meter, enabling the State Electricity Company officials decided an electric current automatically from a certain distance using a remote control.
"Digital electric meter is to minimize the barriers that existed officer State Electricity Company (PLN) in conducting termination of electric current as experienced in sealing the analog power meter," said team leader innovation of digital electric meter UGM Fadjri Andika Permadi in Yogyakarta, Wednesday.
Innovation is to deliver four students from Gadjah Mada University (UGM) is Fadjri Permadi Andika, Muhammad Arif Wicaksono, and Joseph Irfani of the Diploma in Electrical Engineering and Kiki's Mercy poem from the Department of Engineering Physics gold medal in the National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS) in Bali, July then through the Student Creativity Program (CRP) Field of Technology.
"The difficulties encountered when officers will conduct electricity such as sealing the walls of the house too high, and scolded the owner of the house, can be minimized because with this digital meter can decide PLN electricity customers without having to go home," said Fadjri.
Fadjri says the tool is equipped with electric circuit breaker wireless technology that allows officers to conduct electricity disconnection of electric current within a range of 70 meters with coverage of 255 kwh.
"This tool also features a menu to display the total cost of monthly electricity bills and power consumption in the previous month's usage," he said.
Therefore, according to Fadjri customer can then use the savings in electrical power because it can estimate the total electricity usage each month.
"We also added a reminder that the alarm is set off every December 19, the day before the due date of payment of electricity bills," he said.
He said it could serve as an alarm reminder bill payments so customers will not experience a sealing for forgetting to pay the electricity bill.
