Bali - UGM became the grand winner in the 13rd National Student Scientific Week held at the Mahasaraswati University, Denpasar, 21-23 July 2010. In this event, UGM managed to win 19 medals, nine golds, four silvers and six bronzes.
The UGM student won five golds, one silver, four bronzes for presentation of Student Creativity Program; and four golds, three silvers and two bronzes in the poster competition. Meanwhile, Sepuluh November Institute of Technology (ITS) was the runner-up with 10 medals, 3 golds, 3 silvers, 4 bronzes, followed by Yogyakarta State University (UNY) that won eight medals, four golds, two silvers and two bronzes.
Of the 34 UGM teams, 17 teams won the awards in the event which was followed by 350 teams from 113 universities throughout Indonesia. These awards are the best presenter in four areas by Ari Hendra Lukmana who presented the "Humanization of Temple: Site Development Model of Pustakasala Temple at Islamic University of Indonesia", Friski Cahya Nugraha presented "Innovative Absorbing Pores Pipeline for Flood Prevention in Densed Urban Area", Fadjri Andika Permadi presented "Innovation of Micro-controller-Based Digital Multi-features of KWH Meter”, and Wijaya who presented "Biogas Village: Optimalization of Biogas Potential in Ngemplak Village, Boyolali, as Alternative to Overcome Illegal logging in Mount Merbabu Area".
The second best presenter was Puguh Dwi Hartanto presenting "Synthesis of 1,3-Bis Urea Modified Gama Vuton As Effort to Improve Anti-Cancer Activity". While the third best presenter was Safirotul Huda presenting "Application of Land and Real Estate Advertising Through Mobile Devices with Interactive Map Visualization", Aris Misbah with "Tirex Burger: White Oyster Mushroom Burger As Valuable High Fiber Alternative", Muhammad Sofwan Hadi presenting "Improving Rural Community’s Economy Through Batako Production in Petung Village, Gunung Kidul", Ata Septian Hesmono who presented "Chemo-herbal Mobile: Acceleration to Support Chemo-preventive Paradigm".
While the best poster was won by Student Creativity Program's poster entitled "Innovation of Micro-controller-Based Digital Multi-features of KWH Meter" by Fadjri Andika Permadi, et al., "Business of Flavor Variations of Pletok Beer as Ready to Drink Beverage" by M. Mirza Fahmi, et al., "Elderly Women's Empowerment Through Community-Based Weaving Business Development" by Sayyid Fachrurrazi, et al., and "Cream Potential Containing Growth Factor On Speed Healing of Wounds in Dogs" by Diah Septyandari, et al.
Next, second best poster was won by the team with "Formation of Thousand Independent Cadres With MLM Method To Prevent Low Birth Weight Babies Case" by Mustofa Kamal, et al., "Jogja Disaster Education Park as Center for Disaster Education in Yogyakarta" by Ahmad Juwari, et al., and "Application of the Savior Code as Substitute of Morse Code and Braille Letter for Humanitarian and Military Communications" by Mujirin, et al. The last, the third best poster was won by the team with the poster entitled "SUKRIlicious (Sukun Bakery Delicious): Local Healthy Diet with Economic Value" by M. Ridwan Ansari, et al.
Drs. Haryanto, Si, Director of Student Affairs of UGM, expressed his pride of the results achieved by the UGM teams. "We are very grateful for this achievement. The hard work done by students, lecturers, tutors, supervisors, and the university eventually led to good results," he said after receiving the "Adikarta Kertawidya" trophy.
He added that this achievement makes UGM want to maintain it next year. "UGM will always seek out to be the best in the upcoming Scientific Week. We certainly expect to maintain this title next year,” he explained.
The National Student Scientific Week was officially closed by the Director of Research and Community Service in the Ministry of National Education, Tri Hapsoro Suryo Utomo, at Taman Budaya, Denpasar, on Friday evening (23/7).
